So now that I have had a month of additional use under my belt, I feel confident recommending this device for students or those working on the go who require a reasonably priced, lightweight two-in-one that’s ready out of the box. So yes, for $370, the HP Chromebook x2 11 is a steal, especially if you compare the laptop to the similarly-specced two-in-ones that retail for more and don’t go on sale as often. Thankfully this unit is still on sale across many other retailers for much less, including HP’s own store that has the laptop currently listed on sale for $370, a price that’s much easier to swallow. What’s odd is that the official retail pricing has yet to be lowered-the model in this review is currently listed at $600 on the Google Chromebook store, which is definitely up there. The detachable keyboard, rear stand/cover, and side-charging USI pen are all included.

We’ve seen more and more devices shipping without vital accessories, but the Chromebook X2 is different. Still, the majority of Android and Linux apps run well enough on the HP Chromebook x2 11. It would appear there’s no getting around the performance cost of running Android apps in a container, which is also why some Linux apps suffer from performance issues on the device. This device uses a Snapdragon 7c chip, but there are still a few performance problems running Android apps, just like Intel chips. This versatility comes from the fact HP’s two-in-one offers a removable stand (a rarity for Chromebooks) along with a removable keyboard, and so you can easily take off both for some quality tablet action on the go. At that price, the HP Chromebook x2 11 would be a steal. Plus, the HP Chromebook x2 11 has gone on sale repeatedly since its release, seeing prices as low as $399 for the 8GB RAM/64GB eMMC (non-LTE) unit reviewed in this article. Yes, the retail price of $600 is a little too high for the performance you get, but you have to keep in mind that you get a keyboard, a universal stylus, and a magnetic stand in the box. It’s also a durable device, and since it comes with everything you need to get going, the HP Chromebook x2 11 is perfect for school life while still being plenty useful for professional work while on the go. This is a device designed to be toted around all day, ready to help you get work done even if there’s no power outlet around. Sure, the performance of the Snapdragon 7c isn’t going to blow you away, but the battery savings, in my opinion, are worth the hit. While it sounds cliche, the HP Chromebook x2 11 is more than the sum of its parts. You’ll have some black bars in videos, but that’s a small price to pay for a ratio that’s better at everything else.

In tablet mode, the 3:2 screen is excellent for landscape work since there’s extra headroom to fit webpage text, and in portrait, the ratio is perfect for comic books, manga, and general e-reading.
